Derek Garrison

Derek Garrison has more than a decade of experience helping healthcare organizations develop strategies to create business value from their EMR systems. His broad experience spans inpatient and ambulatory arenas, as well as the post-acute and payer environments. Derek is based in Florida and is focused on new business development.

Throughout his career, he has helped cultivate solutions that better align information technology with an organization’s strategic goals through the redesign of governance, clinician engagement and analytics.

He actively works with other industry experts to develop innovative services for healthcare providers. Prior to joining Cumberland, Derek co-founded Cipe Consulting Group and led the firm’s strategic services division. In 2014, Derek oversaw the merger of Cipe Consulting Group with Cumberland.

Derek holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in anthropology and a Master of Arts degree in linguistics from the University of Florida. He also holds a master’s degree in health informatics from the University of Minnesota. He is a member of the Health Information and Management Systems Society.
